About Our Licensed Captains

In business since 1994, our goal is to provide the most reliable and professional yacht delivery services, as well as stimulating and enjoyable personalized sailing and motor-yacht instruction. We take great pride in ensuring on-time, on-budget boat deliveries, and we adhere to the highest possible standards for instruction.

We are experienced boat delivery captains and boating instructors. Every captain holds professional licenses issued by the United States Coast Guard (USCG).

Captain Ursula Skagen

I hold a USCG 100-ton Near Coastal Masters license with Sail and Towing endorsements. Based in Annapolis, I have thirty years of experience in sail and motor yachts. I have cruised, delivered and captained yachts along the entire Atlantic and Gulf Coasts of the United States, and throughout the Caribbean Sea, including the Bahamas, the Turks & Caicos, the Spanish Virgin Islands, the Leeward & Windward Islands, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Venezuela, Honduras, Guatemala, Belize and Mexico.

Captain Gary Hutson

I have been sailing since 1983. In 1985 my wife Deb and I purchased a Hunter 31, which was followed later by a Hunter 34. In 2000 we bought “Reality”, a Passport 40 sloop which we dock in the Middle River, just north of Baltimore. A life long resident of Maryland, I served as a volunteer fireman and paramedic for more than 30 years. Prior to becoming a full-time captain and instructor I owned and operated an auto repair shop in Harford County, Maryland.

Captain Bill Madison

• USCG licensed 1600 gross tons master of motor and steam vessels upon oceans #162653 expiration 2/11/19 • AAS Marine technology, emphasis ocean engineering /vocational education certified, USCG approved, marine safety and licensing instructor. More than 30 years as Mate/navigator, unlicensed engineer and Master in small ships and big boats, ocean and coastal research vessels, oil field service craft and tugs including tens of thousands of miles of independent trans-ocean deliveries.

Captain Dane Skagen

I hold a USCG 50 ton inland license with sail and towing endorsements. I learned to sail in my teens on the lakes and rivers in Alberta and British Columbia. As a co-owner of US Delivery Captain, Inc. I am responsible for marketing, personnel and administrative functions and I coordinate deliveries for our captains.

Captain Michael Pittinger, Sr.

I hold a 100 ton USCG Master license with towing and sail endorsements. I have spent most of my life on, in, or under the water. I became a professional mariner at age 18 when I joined the US Navy’s Submarine force. As a Radio Officer aboard NOAA Ship Discoverer, I was in charge of small boat operations in support of various government projects.
